FAQ aka Frequently Asked Questions

Did you know you can now "search engine" an answer faster than you can ask the question?

Thanks to the virtually endless wealth of information on the internet, it is now faster to type your question into a search engine and get the answer, than you can speak the question to a human being ... unless you're an auctioneer. In that case, you're probably on the wrong site or just speaking really fast about antiques or livestock for extra money on the side.

Having said that, we've made it even easier with our OWN "search engine" specifically about our products and services. Below you will find answers to our most commonly asked questions. If you can't find it here, please feel free to CONTACT US, and one of our friendly knowledgeable Sales Experts will assist you as soon as possible.

And please, if your question isn't here and you think it should be, please let your Sales Expert know, and we will be happy to add it, so other customers can benefit from your input!

How do you remove the stylus tips and replace with new tips?

Stylus tips are held tightly in place. It is recommended to use pliers to remove an old tip and push a new one into place. Use alcohol wipes to clean between patients. The silicone will degrade over time. Any visible cracking in the tip requires the tip to be replaced. Packs of 5 tips and other useful accessories on our online store can be purchased HERE.

There are 5 replacement tips in a bag. 5 tips is enough to change all tips on the duals and single stylus. When you change one, it is recommended to change them all.

What is the difference between Sigma, Pulstar, Arthrostim, Activator and Impulse® instruments?

The Impulse and Impulse iQ are the only FDA approved, UL Certified and ISO Class II medical device adjusting instruments on the market today. The Impulse® and iQ® force is equivalent to the average manual adjustment on the highest setting.

Sigma, Pulstar and ProAdjuster are pizio-electric devices not capable of producing the equivalent of a manual adjustment. Pulstar, Sigma and ProAdjuster produce a maximum of 34 lbs. of thrust.

Arthrostim and Activator are spring loaded devices that function in different ways. The Arthrostim does not have a set preload adjustment and will put force back into the patient equal to how hard the practitioner pushes. There is not any required amount of thrusts, and the Arthrostim will run until the trigger is released.

Through extensive research, Dr. Colloca determined that 6 thrusts per second at a preset force is optimal to move bones in the body. He went to the extent of placing pins in a sheep and human spine to test the forces and measure the oscillation.

There is no published research for Arthrostim. To see all of our research, you can DOWNLOAD OUR WHITE PAPER COLLECTION HERE. You will see that our research proves multiple thrusts are more effective. Plus with the force settings of the Impulse instruments ranging from 100-400 Newtons you can treat a wider range of patients and build your practice.

The Activator is also a spring loaded device. However, it is triggered by pulling the handle at the same time the doctor puts a thrust into the patient. There is a battery operated device, Activator V, but it gives only one thrust, and there is a short delay for the battery to recharge before continuing.

The nose piece on the Impulse® is "jammed." How do I fix it?

Occasionally when you change the stylus from single to dual or reverse, there is a pulling on the stylus and it will pull the nosepiece slightly. Twisting and pulling the nosepiece can force it to move from its preload channel, and preload or fire of the instrument will not be possible.

To correct, follow these steps:

  • 1. Remove stylus
  • 2. Grab metal nosepiece
  • 3. Pull and turn nosepiece until you feel or hear it place back into its channel.
